bike
Getting ready for Bermuda's roads takes practice so we thought we would get Schuyler going early with her own plastic moped... it's a little big for her but she can push herself along. She calls it her "dike" which is why we don't take it out in public with us.

boxing day
The above car is nice but it has nothing on the toddler-sized "real" car that Kim and Ward gave Schuyler for Christmas which she gamely drives around their condo... usually backwards because she hasn't figure out how to walk the car along with her feet so she just pushes herself backward.
Schuyler's Choice - which doll will she choose: The loyal but (let's face it) cartoonish Poupée or the new and more realistic Dee Dee.

dip dip
Auntie Ardleigh had a lot of fun with her god child and did the kinds of things that god parents are supposed to do i.e. get the kid all soaked and sandy and then hand her back to her parents.
to the beach
It took having a child (and an invitation from Ardleigh) for me to spend Christmas Day at the beach. We'd gone swimming on Christmas at the beach when I was growing up but never really hung out. Most of the ex-pats in Bermuda go to the beach on the big day and now I really get it.
dee dee
Lucy added a new member to our household in the form of a doll for Schuyler to whom Schuyler immediately gave the name "dee dee" and with whom Schuyler was pretty enthralled for most of the day.
Making sure Dee Dee is warm enough.
christmas car
So we were at Ardleigh's and the boys decided to demonstrate their new remote control car. At first, Schuyler was intrigued and then the non-human, non-animal machine moved...
and scared the doo doo out of her...
...so she ran to the safety of her mother's arms...
...and mama patted the car to show it was friendly...

live christmas action
These are really for posterity and probably only interesting to the parents but take a look if you like... they are packed with actionless sequences.

merry christmas!
This kind of felt like Schuyler's first Christmas because she is so much more of a person. In fact, in keeping with cliché #456 of parenting, it is simply miraculous to witness the soul of the baby grow into an aware, cognizant, tiny human with language, thoughts, opinions (!) and interests. To watch her vocabulary and comprehension lock into place and grow each day is mind blowing.
A card from Pop Pop & Carol was just as much fun to open as any present for our little cub... her reading of the card consisted of more of a taste test than a vocabulary test but still we live and learn.
