happy mother's day

Liz was the photographer and so doesn't appear in the photos for the brunch in her honour.  We all decamped to Elbow Beach for a mother's day brunch to celebrate Kim and Liz.
It would be hard to overestimate what a mother means to a child.  You gave us life.  You grew us and then helped us grow up every step of the way.  The only way to repay that debt is to pay it forward to your own kids.  And we're trying.  There are few people I admire more than the mother's in my life.  I watch Kim with the kids and you can almost see the love glowing around them.  I watch Liz helping Schuyler with a puzzle or doing running hugs with Charlie and I'm so glad I have you here to share this with me and your persistent insistence on being the best mom you can be to these kids.  You are constantly thinking of them and their lives and how to make this world a place where they can be everything they want and need to be and create the foundation for happiness for these kids.  It's tough sometimes, to be sure, but it is also a chaotic, lovely, magical roller coaster where the ride is what counts - as fun and scary as it is.  Kids, never ever doubt your mum loves you with every part of her being.  I've seen it every day.  She's on this journey with you and you are never alone.  She will know and understand you better than you know yourself, so listen to her even when you don't feel like it.  You will learn something good.  As liz has said about me and my mum, there's just different sockets between kids and their mum.  They connect with you differently than anyone else.  Don't take that for granted or lose sight of it.  It will restore you when you are empty and lift you up higher when you soar.  Happy mother's day, Kim and Mama!
p.s. kids: your dad thinks you're pretty cool too!
