5 hour tour...

So we arrived at the airport early (10am) to ensure we got through security and everything at a comfortable pace with enough time to get in a (fairly) leisurely lunch. After a 30 minute wait for the crack squad at check in to figure out how to issue Charlie's ticket, we munched on paninis and pizza as Schuyler ate yoghurt as well as all the pepperoni (and only the pepperoni) off my pizza. We were ready. Noon rolled around and we positioned ourselves strategically near the elevator with all the wheelchairs and handed over our boarding passes. We had it all planned. We'd get to Boston and get in the rental car just in time for naptime and make it up to the lake in VT for just before kid dinnertime.

Announcement: The Delta flight to Boston will be delayed until 5pm.

Well, I think Liz and I probably said some words inappropriate for public or child consumption at this point. They wouldn't let us leave the airport so we were prisoners among the t-shirts, tote bags, and highly-breakable-and-child-reachable souvenirs. Schuyler raced around the airport with a new playmate Sienna playing such fun games as "Let's jump off this tall thing" and "Let's unwittingly shoplift" which became increasingly difficult to monitor as the ranks of passengers swelled with the other afternoon departures. No nap today, I guess. Charlie meanwhile contented himself with the scarred and dingy duo of toys available in the 4 x 4 ft kids play area.

We thought that was the worst of it...
