well... more across Florida than to the centre but we cut through it somewhere around Okeechobee. This may qualify as the longest car trip our kids have ever taken (around 4 hours) and concurrently qualifies as (a) the longest nap Charlie has taken and (b) the longest stretch of perfect behaviour (largely iPad induced) Schuyler has had in over a year. We got to pass through some towns which made us feel lucky in every way not to have to live there and even got to stop at a gas station named Stuckey's which sold inter alia alligator heads and sequined ceramic dragons. We passed eateries selling "swamp cabbage n fish" and "boiled p-nuts [sic]". We passed farm-type things with gigantic entrance gates guarded by large brass stallions. The farm sold "wet sod". We passed tree farms and lots of cows. We passed towns which seemed to share a tooth between them. And we were ever so grateful to end our journey on Arega Street in Sebastian, greeted by Aunt Greta and little infant Reis and cousin Finn.
