Schuyler stocks and hides eggs for mummy and Charlie
This is the kind of joy that adults forget about. We think finding the eggs (and more importantly the treat inside!) is what drives the kids on the egg hunt (at least I did). For Schuyler, the Easter morning egg hunt at Scarrington was not and end in itself but an inspiration. During "quiet time" (the blank region after lunch when she used to nap and Charlie now pretends to for abotu 40 mins), Schuyler can choose any quiet activity. This time, she wanted to fill up all the eggs collected from Ardleigh's house, hide them around the house, and then go looking for them. Her silly Daddy protested "but that doesn't make sense! You'll already know where they all are!" until he remembered how she plays hide-and-seek (i.e. she runs and hides under the covers and then screams "come find me, Daddy! I'm under the covers!"). The mystery of the world created in her egg hunt is one I find harder to recreate as an adult. She can just suspend the necessary disbelief (i.e. I'll pretend I don't know where the eggs are) and go off a-huntin'. I guess I'm still learning how to be a kid again. Fortunately, we were able to get her to wait until Charlie woke up (which is never long, frankly) so they could both search for the eggs. Bless.
scarrington easter festival
What would our Easters be like without Auntie Ardleigh and the Scarrington Crew? She planned an egg hunt, egg decorating, egg rolling race - all to the delight of the offspring we made. Even Charlie got in on the action, diligently committing himself to the collection efforts and retrieval of any egg like object. Thank you, Ardjee!

The accidental Easter bunny
On our way back, Schuyler said "was there someone in the Easter bunny? A grown up or something?". Which brought back memories of a fierce argument I had with my mum when I noticed the Easter bunny wearing my dad's docksiders. I said to my daughter that I didn't know but I would ask the bunny when we saw him next.
hamster
So it is 730am and Schuyler and Charlie are playing with the mechanical hamster. Our conversation went like this:
Sky: it's my hamster. Lucy got it for me.
Jy: tu sais Lucy va se mariee avec Stefan.
Sky: so is me with trystan.

playtime
Look what the hippo spat out!
Partying on the table: we wonder what their college years are going to hold...gulp.
Daddy demonstrates proper playground behaviour. Nope.
