This is the kind of joy that adults forget about. We think finding the eggs (and more importantly the treat inside!) is what drives the kids on the egg hunt (at least I did). For Schuyler, the Easter morning egg hunt at Scarrington was not and end in itself but an inspiration. During "quiet time" (the blank region after lunch when she used to nap and Charlie now pretends to for abotu 40 mins), Schuyler can choose any quiet activity. This time, she wanted to fill up all the eggs collected from Ardleigh's house, hide them around the house, and then go looking for them. Her silly Daddy protested "but that doesn't make sense! You'll already know where they all are!" until he remembered how she plays hide-and-seek (i.e. she runs and hides under the covers and then screams "come find me, Daddy! I'm under the covers!"). The mystery of the world created in her egg hunt is one I find harder to recreate as an adult. She can just suspend the necessary disbelief (i.e. I'll pretend I don't know where the eggs are) and go off a-huntin'. I guess I'm still learning how to be a kid again. Fortunately, we were able to get her to wait until Charlie woke up (which is never long, frankly) so they could both search for the eggs. Bless.
