the egg hunt
Stephen and Jamie model "The Uniform"
Scarrington's annual egg hunt was easily a big hit with the kids but a surprise hit with the adults. Sure we hunted eggs, rolled them down hills, filled the plastic ones with water and made a general mess but it was after the kids went to sleep that the fun really began. For some strange reason, Schuyler and Charlie both cooperated. Schuyler went to sleep in Ardleigh's bed with Charlie in the same room in his car seat. Both kids pretty much went to sleep without a fuss, leaving the parental units to have a great supper, wine, and conversation with Ardleigh, Jamie, Stephen and Sarah while the big kids played sports (on TV). It was the first time in ages that we have played with other adults after bedtime. We'd forgotten how much we need and enjoy that in our lives.

kids
Charlie takes five...
Schuyler gets to know one of the local "kids"
Good Friday is best with friends. Luckily we got to spend it with Richard/Megan/Rebecca/Doug (and, of course, Lila and Gaby). Thanks, guys, for being such wonderful hosts and ignoring the fact that we invited ourselves over.
kites
If you look really closely, you see a nice father-daughter bonding session while they fly a kite together....
Nothing about these photos captures the majesty of a perfect weather Good Friday in Bermuda where the sky is littered with kites of all shapes and sizes humming overhead like a stationary flock of technicolour birds tethered to men who have had too much to drink. A true Bermuda tradition.
cardboard & forts
Moments before the laughter turned to tears
Schuyler's Dad creates a two-room fort with blankets and cushions. Schuyler quickly moved in some tenants and their various possessions. Overcrowding is now a problem in the sofa neighbourhood and Magic was forced to find alternative sofas.

baa baa
When her Dad was a little boy someone gave him a sheep skin rug which he had well beyond its "use by" date. So he got a little nostalgic when Kim and Wardie Baby bought the same for Schuyler and Dad for their birthdays.

hop in
Dad had a lot of things to carry downstairs and, in a spurt of male thinking, he thought it would be smart to put one of his most precious things in a flimsy laundry basket and carry it downstairs with a brain running on three hours sleep. Fortunately, the laptop made it down safely (as did the other items).
