taste test

At Schuyler's insistence, and I do mean insistence, we did a taste test/practice run of her birthday cupcakes. Her mid-morning snack does not usually have such a high sugar content!

party prep

In anticipation for the inevitable months of neglect upon the arrival of her sibling, we decided to throw Schuyler a birthday bash. Unfortunately, setting up for a party with the "help" of a two year old is a challenge worthy of Odysseus. She wanted to jump on the balloons ("pop!"), balance precariously on the stool to hang the banner, and lie in the pool while papa tried to fill it.

newsworthy

Now that she is a worldly two years old Schuyler likes to start off the morning with a perusal of The Royal Gazette's headlines. We also caught her showing off her new counting skills last night while she was talking to herself in bed... on the baby monitor we just heard her sounding off "6....7.....8....9". She can pretty much get to 10 in English and somewhere around eight in French. That's a proud Papa talkin'.

the check up

Today Schuyler endured her two year check up which was not without some stress. She was quite offended about getting forcibly stripped down to her birthday suit. Luckily, Trystan and the toys (she adores that old beat up car) were there to soothe her afterwards.
her latest stats:
height: 35.5"
weight: 28lbs 12oz

happy birthday schuyler bear!

Schuyler at 2 hours. All the cliches are true. Time really does speed past you. Somewhere in the past year, raising this kid changed from being a chore to being a lot of fun. Schuyler, you seem like a very happy kid. You're a bit stubborn (i'm not sure where you get that from!) but it also means you're good at knowing what you want. You're funny. You're a bit of a ham (a 'public persona' as your Grandpa says) which i kind of like. You get shy when you arrive somewhere with lots of new people. But you find your feet quickly and join in the fun. You seem pretty smart (but every parent thinks their kid is a genius). You have an infectious curiousity and help us not to sweat the small stuff in life. You have a smile that could power a village. We love you so much we decided to make you a buddy. Happy birthday, little bear.

Let them eat...

...more.... cake... please?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

fortunately, the new kitchen got her spirits up again.

playdate party

nuff said! THANK YOU, LUCY!

A Lucy-organized birthday party for Schuyler and her buddies. When her neglectful parents are not there to raise her, it is so nice to know she is in such good, loving hands.

the birthday present

While Papa was away in London on a training course to try and get a promotion to pay for Schuyler's college tuition, Mama put her skills to work at doing the traditionally Daddy job of assembling the Big Toy! Nice job, mama! Schuyler loves her kitchen. To avoid stereotyping, we have also bought her a power drill.

the return of Kim & Ward

Some of Schuyler's favourite Bermuda residents have returned! And, with them, access to the car keys.

a stroll in the park

believe it or not, she is actually really happy in this shot and refused to leave the stroller at the end of the walk in Ferry Point Park...

until this moment when she decided that walking was the only way to experience the railway trail...

...and then she needed to get back in the stroller.... Rinse. Lather. Repeat.
