If it's a Saturday that usually means ballet. We have tried hard to avoid over-scheduling the kids for their sake and ours but we have a few things on the menu still. Ballet has come full circle: When Schuyler first started, she was thrilled to get dressed up in the costume and learn to do those ballerina things. Then came the Resistance Movement where she would kick up a fuss with full force when it was time to get ready. Now, she doesn't complain at all. She gets dressed and when we arrive, she just hops out and goes up the stairs all by herself. We always watch her go. There's something bitter sweet about seeing the little moments where your kids don't need your help any more and I'm guessing this gets worse over time as the moments become bigger and more important so we are trying to savour these ones for now. After all, as Charlie's enthusiasm below attests, we still get to pick her up afterward.

Giant Schuyler
After a special after school dinner at La Trattoria, Schuyler plays super hand puppets in the lights at City Hall - dancing and making shapes and just generally having a pretty good time.

Mum and Dad's bed
There's something safe about your parent's bed. It's bigger (and usually better) than your bed. And the people who sleep there are your Mum and Dad, the giants of your world. I can still remember that feeling of crawling into my Mum and Dad's bed after a nightmare or because I couldn't sleep or just because and there was that feeling of absolute safety. Of course, it's a great place to just curl up with a book too.

Ready for school
Our kids have an obsession with bringing things along for the ride to school. This can be books, stuffed animals, pens and notebooks, or pretty much anything that is within arm's reach when we say "time to go". All this for a seven minute car ride.

Late afternoon Somersfield soccer
Another weekend playtime at Somersfield... late afternoon on the playing fields (well, the concrete slab near them) with a couple of soccer balls and the kids are pretty much set.

Post-remembrance treat
Charlie wearing "Daddy's socks"... man, was he proud of himself. Unfortunately, they have a very different look on a three year old.
Frozen yoghurt after the big parade... what could be better?
Remembrance Day
Dear Pop, J.G. Young
Not exactly recognising the gravity of the moment as the remembrance day thoughts are shared.
Getting a ride to the parade.
Charlie demonstrating how the soldiers march.
Waiting for the parade to begin.
