Prepping the pool bath

While Papa (once again) neglects his familial duties in favour of some dumb test, Mama finds new inventive ways to capture the kids' imagination.  I could have made it this far on the CFA journey without days like this where Mama bear took up the slack on the home front.  THANK YOU, MAMA!

Is it nighttime yet?

"faire de Yoga, s'il te plait!"

I think this thing is important.  Let me stick it on my hand.

Need a mechanic?

It appears as if Charlie (the customer) has been having a little car trouble (possibly involving a collision with a little red plastic bike).  But, not to worry, Mechanic Schuyler is on the job, proving that the Zalinger genes dominate the Young genes in this arena!

Nice phone

Shelly Bay

Fortunately for Mama, Oscar and Isaac's mother was in a similar predicament so all the kids met at Shelly Bay while Kerry and Mama made sure they survived.

Hot n humid

Another weekend in May means another day when Mama and the kids play together while Papa studies for his exam.  Above are the playgrounds next to ballet lessons where I'm pretty sure I played after Sunday school every now and then.

Something special

So Papa got a surprise visit.  Schuyler and Mama showed up unannounced at his office bearing a gift of a cute little plant to go on his windowsill.  His old plant died from neglect.  But this once stands a pretty darn good chance because every time Papa sees it, he thinks of his little girl.

Ducks

The rubber duck population in our bathtub has quadrupled over the past year.

Bermuda Day

Instead of studying on the Bermuda Day holiday, we took the kids to the beach/pool to mark the locals entry into water for the first time since winter.  Personally, I think we need to move this entry point back in the calendar to, say, August.... brrrrr!

Tell us a joke daddy

Schuyler began the morning with "tell us a joke!" so I launched into the only age appropriate one I could think of:

DADDY: what do you call a deer with one eye?
SCHUYLER: Mexico!
Answer is supposed to be "No eye deer" i.e. no idea

Which may be the best response I've heard to that joke although I am not sure but something about the response seems vaguely racist.

Mummy

I was pretty darn impressed with Schuyler's portrait of her mother.  You'd have to look closely to see arms, nose and legs which are marked in yellow but overall, it's a far cry from the no-neck stick figures you often see from kids and the eyes actually have pupils!  She was just drawing at the table with her mom nearby and came up with this on her own (Liz was wearing a striped skirt but not exactly orange as depicted).  Colour me proud.
