sleepover at Trystan's house
So Schuyler had her first sleepover. Trystan invited her over to spend the night and it was a hit. We understand they giggled until about 10pm in their beds until they finally fell asleep. They did arts and crafts (Exhibit A: The miniature Bermuda kite) and went for a walk and did all kinds of things she never gets to do at home (e.g. brushing her teeth in the morning). Now, she wants a sleepover every weekend. Maybe when Papa finishes his exams, Schuyler. Maybe.
The end result of the sleepover was an unexpected nap during "quiet time". We owe Trystan's family one for that peace.

marine life
The first of many diorama's that Schuyler will do in her educational career. This one depicting an underwater scene was part of the school's UN day and (I believe) shows the marine life of Australia (since that was the country they were studying: Fun fact - it is the smallest continent but the largest island). Papa did not like the crab.

snack duty
As part of the community aspect of Montessori teaching, the kids (read: "their parents") must provide snacks for the whole class for one week per year... y'know, because we don't have enough to do. And so it was that our week descended upon us and Schuyler's dear Mama dutifully prepared healthy snacks every night for a week while Papa studied. They don't tell you how emotionally invested you will become in how your snacks are received ("They didn't eat the apples!!?? Who doesn't like apples!?"). The winners appeared to be popcorn (expected) and veggies with hummous (less expected).

retentive
Schuyler was on a tidy up kick... man, when that kid gets going, she really gets into it. If it ain't a right angle, it's a wrong angle. Above are the various wheeled vehicles, meticulously presented in a linear fashion.
All washcloths were folded and cutlery placed by category.
Cups and saucers arranged by size and colour.
laundry
We all went breakfast at bouchee and demolished pancakes and huevos benedict. Then we came home and charlie would not go quietly in that nap (methinks a molar is the cause). Schuyler got really into practicing how to spell her name and got most of the way through that difficult moniker with on the U and the Y giving her difficulty. Then we colored some truly psychedelic mermaids (orange tails!) and then folded laundry. Today this file gets five stars. As I write this on my iPhone she is tidying her kitchen (see next post).
look ma no legs
Charlie's latest habits are couch related: Climbing on the couch; stomping on the couch; hiding behind the couch cushions; precariously perching on the arm of the couch - essentially anything that might cause a trip to the Lambe Foggo Urgent Care Centre. But he darn well loves it.

blanket fort play date
according to Schuyler, these babies are hers and Trystan's. Someone is not telling the whole truth.
The blanket fort homestead for Schuyler and (according to her) her husband-to-be.
