Logan International

Liz and I have a sanity system for traveling. We take turns helping the smallest member of the family burn off energy. And let's face it, the airport playgrounds are kind of fun.

city life

Schuyler goes gossip girl in bean town

Never let a toddler try and feed you

Ferme les yeux.

back to beantown

Back in bean town after our Block Island sojourn. Gramps and Nan were surveilled as they delivered The Package to eager parents at the hotel.

big brother & big sister

Like many children her age, Schuyler is pretty thrilled about babies. I think this is because (like the dogs) they are the only things smaller than her that will let her boss them around. Pregnancy mazagines (sic) are a keen favourite right now. We hope this trend continues when her very own baby comes and it doesn't go away! We are going to need all the help we can get.

lap time

play and snacks

It really looks like she is going to go flying off here... thank goodness for gravity and centripetal force.

Snack time!

boat cruise

Schuyler did NOT like wearing her life jacket so she made a reluctant Papa wear one as well.

"No, Finn, 'port' means left!"

block island!

Schuyler and Finn "help" gramps clear up the grass cuttings by depositing them in the pool.

Finn helps Schuyler concentrate on her "business"
Gramps wins over the kids (and the grown ups) with his famous cupcakes.

september babies

Into the great unknown again...

3 more bites

Look at the joy on this girl's face! Quinn will be very handy with his new younger sibling.

Quinn & Noah's house

The day after we arrived in Beantown, we met up with Gramps and Nan and headed out to Natick to see Justin, Moe, Quinn and Noah. It was a really good time because (a) there was good food, people and beer and (b) the big kids all played well together (including the big kid above in the light blue shirt with the collar). Schuyler absolutely adored her older cousins ("boys, Daddy!") and received some words of wisdom from them as well ("Just three more bites and then you're done and you can have dessert!"). Thanks, guys.

museum of science: butterfly exhibit

Daddy took Schuyler to the Museum of Science which was a nice little walk across lanes of screaming traffic. He took her to the lightning exhibit where lightening bolts thundered across the room. She was nonplussed. He took her to the butterfly room filled with loads of beautiful little (and not so little) butterflies. She was TERRIFIED and would not leave her Daddy's arms. What will this little girl become?

hotel marlowe

Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, MA is cool. Funk decor (leopard print robes, anyone?), friendly people, thoughtful additions (like the baby care sample Schuyler is demonstrating on travel doll), and they welcome dogs (which Sky really enjoyed). Oh, and the Cambridgeside Galleria mall (and adjacent Cheesecake Factory) is accessible via a secret underground passage.

boston

Schuyler got her nap in on the cab ride over to the hotel and thankfully stayed asleep while she was transported from cab to room.

Schuyler had a room to herself for the first night (a first!)

And they have berries!

off the island

Oh wow, this feels like a long time ago now. After a successful week in Florida, Nan/Gramps and Scott/Greta/Finn decided to convene together again - this time on the scenic isle of Block Island. Schuyler mum and dad were also given the opportunity to spend a day or so on their own to explore Boston and hang out together/do some errands that can't be done in Bermuda.
Unfortunately, in order to get anywhere, you have to go through the Toddler-On-A-Plane funtime! Schuyler was actually pretty good. She's now at an age where she can be reasoned with to a small degree so she almost understood that she had to wear her seat belt after I explained the physics of a plane travelling at 500mph and what happens to a toddler travelling at the same speed if the plane jolts. She explained that through quantuum theory there is a chance that she would fly right through the plane wall unharmed and quite possibly time travel. I don't know why i wrote that. She was good on the plane and we read and she squirmed and we used the potty on the plane and marvelled at the blue water.
