laundry helper

Wearing the new ski bunny t-shirt that Auntie Ardleigh got her (which she refused to remove), she decided to help with the laundry by wearing her dad's boxers.

library social

in our ongoing efforts to find some sanity on a saturday morning, we have often talked about going to Storytime at the kids library in Hamilton but invariably we have missed the window for one reason or another. Finally, we got our poop in a group and made it. It was packed with games and kids and parents and stories and toys and fish tanks and bubble wrap taped to the ground (which Daddy found more fun than Schuyler) and we thought we've really been missing out. While we may have been missing out, this time was a little different since it was some sort of reading festival which caused all the brouhaha. Lucky little bear. We spent a good two hours at the library (where she affirmed her fondness for the written word - especially when combined with lift up flaps) which tuckered the little cub right out.

tea party

Schuyler and Eli having a pretend food party with Casuarina needles playing the part of spaghetti.

I wish we had more days like this in winter down here... the past month seems to have been just buckets of rain and gale force winds.

magnetic

Schuyler received a package from down under. The post office woman was angry because we didn't include an invoice (which they need for import tax). She opened the package and saw the above picture and said "Kim did this!?" laughing. That's Bermuda. The good parts. So now the picture is on our fridge at Schuyler height and she will pass it and say "Chim" or "War" and inevitably pull it down and not be able to figure out how to reattach it with the magnet. We are hereby soliciting pictures of family and friends for her fridge door. Print out your best pic and send it to be mauled and drooled on.

show and tell

We don't expect people to be interesting in our little cub. That was one of the reasons for this blog i.e. people can look if they are interested or ignore if they are not and we will be none the wiser. We are very lucky that Schuyler has several people who care about her as much as we do and one of them is Kim ("Chim!"). A skype call with a 22 month old is not much of a conversation. It's more of a fight to keep her from (a) closing the laptop (b) pressing every button on the key board with special emphasis on ones with lights such as the power button or (c) pouring various liquids onto the computer in a vain attempt to "feed" the person on the screen. But Schuyler's grandparents are mostly very tolerant to skype for a good 5-10 minutes with our noisy, capricious little bear. Kim is particularly good at finding ways to play with her when they are half a world away. Schuyler will offer things to Kim and Kim will pretend to take them causing squeals of delight from the younger of the two girls (and occasionally both of them). In the first screen, Schuyler is offering Kim the shirt her doll was wearing - giving her the shirt off someone else's back. We'll have to work on that.

nightly calisthenics

Daddy does push-ups. Schuyler does somersaults (and adds several degrees of difficulty for Daddy's push-ups). Mummy photographs.

storm clean-up

Schuyler was excited to help clean up after one of our many recent storms. She was thrilled to get some fresh air and see the sun again but probably even more enchanted with the broom/weapon she was allowed to use.

stormy fun - part III

Ahh... "sharing"

We had Oscar over for a little bit which was a blast. Boys are a little different. Oscar's favourite thing we did while he was over was for him to "cook" a strawberry and then hand it to me ("hot") and i would pretend it was so hot i couldn't hold it so i'd let it bounce of my hands and hoot and holler. He thought this was the best thing that had happened in the world ever. Schuyler just thinks that Oscar is the best thing that has happened in the world ever.

wild rocker

Not so much interested in playing guitar as stopping Daddy from playing guitar by muting the strings.... ahhh the power!

Conquering the guitar by standing the the guitar case... for some reason, this gave her enormous joy.

... and caused her to express her joy by pulling her pants over her head

muney & dad-tee's room

Schuyler's favourite playground is Mummy and Daddy's room. So many fun things: the infamous "gouttes", the toilet, the shower, the bed, the blankets on the bed, the burning hot towel warmer... fun fun fun.

when crocodiles attack

Dry land training for summer poolside activities.

a potty for me

It is bizarre (and a little disturbing) how excited Schuyler is about a book about poop. This is her current favourite... not exactly our favourite but she digs when the kid pees her pants (which, to be fair, is kind of funny).

a gymnast?

So our little cub has gained some competency in somersaults... unfortunately, she tends to use her head/neck as the balancing point which i'm sure is not optimal for her health.
