fun at the lake

now this is shopping!

The kid stores in America are slightly roomier than those at home. After all this shopping, the only thing she bought was a new hat. But, man, did she enjoy browsing.

heading to hanover

Enjoying her new, big kid, forward facing car seat, Schuyler enjoys some giggles and shut eye on the drive to Hanover.

chairs

Schuyler is entering the "sponge" phase where she's starting to understand loads of things - seemingly all at once. One of the first signs of this was her mum touching each of the chairs and then the next day asking the little bear where the chairs were. Schuyler promptly went to each of the chairs and touched them all. Is it real or is it mimicry?

working hard - zalinger, cameron, lambek and young

Begin a lawyer is so easy a baby can do it. And her hourly rates are very reasonable.

vermont

Jet Blue's spare seats provide extra room for squirmy toddlers.

Grandma Tobe shares her lunch with Schuyler.
Schuyler runs frantically toward the road at Grampa Flip and Nan's house. Mental note: must teach her what "stop" means.

You've got to earn that college tuition somehow, Little Bear. Keep practicing.

the last bag

We stopped sending Liz to the farm in February and yet the rewards from all that hard work at her own personal Dunkley's Dairy ensured that Schuyler still had breast milk even into her toddler days and well past our first year goal. Nice job, Mama Bear. Your little bear has no idea how much effort went into making sure this happened. But her Daddy does. And, man, is he proud that Schuyler has her for a mama.

the babybeach

The "baby beach" is so called because it's shallow, shin deep waters extend out for a good fifty feet before getting into "adult" swimming depths. So now that we have a baby, we thought it would be a fun to take her here. It was fun. Sort of. It's not the relaxing day at the beach we used to have because of Schuyler's independent-i-can-do-it-myself stubborn swimming habits which ensure that most of your time is spent stopping her from drowning herself. But still fun.

milk & a brush

High five, little bear!

Schuyler now just kicks back and drinks on her own which makes her more fun to hang out with. less fun is the fact that we now have to brush her teeth which basically involves a finger toothbrush being jammed into her mouth while she tries valiantly to bite said finger off.

home again

We had a great time. A really great time. We are so lucky and i just hope somehow our little bear knows how lucky she is to have five great grandparents. We're so grateful that she got to spend a whole week alone with one pair. On so many levels.

Now we're back home and the reality of things are sinking in. Daddy's got his new job to begin and Mama goes back to the grindstone. I think Schuyler really, really misses the attentions of so many people. Which might mean she's like her Dad that way.

bar hopping

Lou had an idea. Let's bring the kids but focus on the adults. So we went to the marina bar and had some pina coladas. And it was fun. A little distracted with the beasts running around the floor eating whatever they found there. But a lot of fun. Although i did think of Sweet Home Alabama: "You've got a baby! In a bar!"

coral sands

Schuyler's lunchtime activity: playing with a straw and a glass of water which mainly consisted of her proving Archimedes correct by jamming her fist into the water to spray all around her. Fun. Fun. Fun.

Until Daddy loses his cool and chucks her over the side (as she giggles and Child Protective Services arrive).

Look out, Sami. She's got a Knight and she's already laid to waste the Queen, King and her legions of pawns.
